Immigration crisis, Meloni: We are facing an unprecedented pressure

Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has spoken again about immigration and refugees.

"We are facing unprecedented pressure from the migrant crisis, which comes as a result of the instability of large areas of Africa and the Middle East. The Italian government is working every day to address this situation and to fight mass illegal immigration," writes Meloni in a Facebook post. 

She adds that her government is acting "seriously, at every level, seeking the participation of other European countries in the whole effort and signing agreements with African countries, to stop the departure of seafarers and to dismantle the network of human traffickers human, but also with rules to favor the deportation of those who do not have the right to be received in Italy".

Meloni emphasizes that this work becomes more difficult if meanwhile other countries are working in the diametrically opposite direction and if a part of Italy is doing everything to favor illegal immigration.
