Media in Moscow: Putin's close associate is poisoned

A poisoning attempt has been made against Vladimir Putin's deputy, as claimed by a Russian media outlet. 71-year-old Nikolai Patrushev, the former head of the FSB secret service and secretary of the Moscow Security Council, was reportedly rushed to hospital in recent days after feeling unwell.
According to General SVR, a Russian Telegram channel run by dissidents of the Putin government, the results of toxicology tests revealed that Patrushev had been exposed to a "synthetic poison" but survived.
A Washington Post report that Patrushev appeared in public to justify the invasion and advance Russia's war aims had created an impression, while Putin appeared to be wavering in the first three months of the conflict.
In a series of interviews he gave to Russian newspapers, the 71-year-old Patrushev predicted the collapse of Europe under the weight of a global food and refugee crisis and the disintegration of Ukraine into several states.
The powerful Secretary of the Security Council has served in the KGB headquarters in St. Petersburg, while he has argued that the US was behind the tensions in eastern Ukraine and that Washington's ultimate goal was to cause the collapse of Russia.
