Vote counting in Kosovo parliamentary elections concludes. LVV wins 48 mandates

Almost a month after the day of the parliamentary elections in Kosovo, the Central Election Commission has completed the counting of conditional votes and those of persons with special needs, thus concluding the process of counting all votes.

Central Election Commission spokesman Valmir Elezi told Voice of America that a 48-hour period has now been opened, within which political entities can submit their complaints to the Electoral Panel for Complaints and Submissions, regarding any alleged violations during the count.

"After this deadline, the final results will be announced," said Mr. Elezi in a written response, emphasizing that, according to the CEC's plans, the final result is expected to be certified on March 18.

The conclusion of the count confirmed that none of the parties has secured a sufficient number of seats in the Kosovo parliament to form a government on its own, a process that requires 61 votes in the 120-seat parliament.

According to observers, the winner of these elections, the Vetevendosje Movement, is expected to have 48 seats, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, which came in second, 24, the Democratic League of Kosovo 20, and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and its partners eight.

Ten seats belong to non-Serb minority communities, while another 10 belong to the Serb community. For the first time, the Serbian List has won only nine of them, as one was won by the Independent Liberal Party of the current Minister for Communities and Returns, Nenad Rašić.
