Scary numbers in Italy, 1,208 workplace deaths in 2022

1,208 workers died at work in 2022 in Italy according to the Workplace Accident Insurance Agency INAIL.
In its annual report, the agency points out that the number remains very high, despite a 15.2 percent drop compared to last year, according to Ansa.
On the other hand, accidents at work are increasing. In the first eight months of 2023, 383,242 accident reports were registered, 20.9 percent less compared to the same period in 2022 and 8.1 percent compared to 2019, the year before the pandemic, said the president of INAIL. Fabrizio D'Ascenzo.
Italy is experiencing a spate of deaths from occupational accidents. Five railway maintenance workers were killed by a train in an accident at Brandizzo near Turin in late August.
