Trump stirs revolution in Al with new executive order

US President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to launch a government-wide effort to build an integrated AI platform to leverage federal scientific data to train next-generation technologies.

The effort, called the Genesis Mission, aims to transform scientific research and accelerate scientific discovery by using massive government scientific datasets “to train scientific foundation models and create AI agents to test new hypotheses, automate research workflows, and accelerate scientific advances.”

Trump directed the US Department of Energy and the US National Laboratories to "unite America's brightest minds, most powerful computers and vast scientific data into a collaborative system for research."

The order pays special attention to U.S. national, economic, and health security, including biotechnology, critical materials, fission and fusion nuclear energy, space exploration, quantum information science, semiconductors, and microelectronics.

Trump has prioritized winning the race against China.

Shortly after taking office in January, he ordered his administration to draft an AI Action Plan that would make “America the AI ​​capital of the world” and reduce regulatory barriers to its rapid expansion. He also rescinded an executive order on AI security signed by his predecessor Joe Biden.
