Albana Vokshi, re-elected vice-president of EPP Women: Honor, challenge and responsibility!

Democratic Party MP and leader of the women's forum in the Democratic Party, Albana Vokshi, has been re-elected as vice-president of the Women's Forum of European People's Parties.
During the general meeting held today in Brussels, Vokshi was voted by the members of this forum for a second term in this position, while the new president of this forum was elected, Mariya Gabriel, former Deputy Prime Minister and former Foreign Minister of Bulgaria.
After being reconfirmed in this position, Vokshi expressed his gratitude for the support he received.
"I am particularly proud that we have defended democracy and European values in the Western Balkans and have worked to strengthen the European integration of this region," said Albana Vokshi, vice-president of EPP Women, among others.
It is a great honour to stand before you today and ask for your support to serve again as Vice-President. I am deeply grateful for the trust you have placed in me over the past two years. Thank you for allowing me to work with you and represent our shared belief in the power and potential of women in Europe.
For me, as an Albanian woman, this role has a special meaning. Serving as your Vice President is one of the highest positions an Albanian woman has ever held in international politics. Many women in my party, and many women across Albania, have felt proud and inspired by the trust you placed in one of their own. Your trust has empowered thousands of women who dream of finding their place in leadership.
When I look back and see our work together, I feel proud. We have worked hard to raise women’s voices in decision-making. We have supported women candidates in our member parties. We have defended our fundamental values, human dignity, freedom, democracy and the rule of law.
Most importantly, we have ensured that women from every part of our political family feel noticed, included and empowered.
I am particularly proud that we have defended democracy and European values in the Western Balkans and worked to strengthen the European integration of this region.
Today, Europe faces many challenges, old and new. We see breaches of democracy, threats to security, rapid digital change, and demographic pressures.
In all these areas, women have a lot to offer. Women can lead.
And EPP Women must continue to be the place where women grow, where we support each other and where our voices become stronger.
If you entrust me with another mandate, I will continue to:
-Create more opportunities for young women in politics, because our future depends on them;
-Strengthen cooperation across all our member organisations, so that every voice can shape our work;
-Build even stronger connections between regions and cultures, supporting in particular the European path of the Western Balkans.
As I stand here with all the wonderful and capable women who are candidates today, I feel proud of our organisation. We are rich in talent, energy and commitment. No matter how you vote, EPP Women will have a strong and committed leadership.
But most importantly, our mission remains the same: to make EPP Women a driving force for progress in Europe.
I respectfully ask for your support to continue this work, with honesty, commitment and with the same passion that I have brought from day one.
Thank you!
