"His father was killed by gangs in '97", Basha shares the painful

During a meeting with young people in the city of Fier, the political leader of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, Lulzim Basha, brought to attention the personal story of the candidate for deputy in this district, Burhan Misiraj.

Basha emphasized that Misiraj is one of the most well-known figures among Euro-Atlantic youth and democrats, thanks to his long-standing commitment to politics and civic causes.

In this conversation, Burhan Misiraj shared the painful moment in his life, when he lost his father before he was even born.

Burhani, who today bears his name, said that his father was a commissioner for the Democratic Party in the 1997 elections and was killed by armed gangs that year at the voting center, while he was defending the will of the Fierak Democrats.

" He was killed in the line of duty, performing a patriotic duty for the Albanian right ," Misiraj emphasized.

Basha described this story as unique among the coalition candidates, describing it as a testament to the sacrifice and nobility that the new representatives of the Euro-Atlantic Democrats embody.

Excerpts from the conversation:

Lulzim Basha : It is always a pleasure to be among young people and this has become even easier for me in this campaign, because a good part of our team is made up of young people. From people who have been tested in political battles since their youth engagement, whether as students or high school students, and now as young professionals. Burhan Misiraj is a very well-known person for Euro-Atlantic youth, for Euro-Atlantic democrats due to his tireless engagement for more than a decade in every political battle, not only oppositional, but also civic. And today he is one of our candidates on the list of the Fier district. Burhan, you have a family history that I would say is unique, at least in the group of our candidates, of our 140 candidates. It is a painful story, it is also a story of courage, nobility with sublime sacrifice of the father, right?

Burhan Misiraj: Of course, yes.

Lulzim Basha : Can you share this story with the young people, with all Euro-Atlantic democrats, with all the lost democrats who follow those false icons, false idols, and understand that our candidates are people of personal and family sacrifices?

Burhan Misiraj: I am the son of Burhan Misiraj and this is something that is easily connected with the Democrats of Fier. My father was killed in the voting center, he was a commissioner of the Democratic Party in 1997. I was not born when he died, so I also inherit his name. This is also one of the main reasons why I have always loved as a phenomenon a man who dared but did not have the opportunity. We cannot talk about the pain because it is understandable as for every family.

Lulzim Basha : Was he killed in the line of duty?

Burhan Misiraj : At the helm of affairs, defending the will of the Albanian right-wingers in the 1997 elections.

Lulzim Basha : A terribly dark year of a national disaster. So, he was on duty to protect the vote when he was executed.

Burhan Misiraj: Yes, at the voting center.

Lulzim Basha : performing a patriotic duty and a duty for the democrats, for the Albanian right.

The full story of the late democrat Burhan Misiraj:

On June 29, 1997, Burhan Misiraj, then head of the DP group section, was appointed head of the Voting Center in his village, in Mbers, Roskovec, in the Fier District. The armed gangs, which had been holding Albania hostage for months and had not allowed the DP and its coalition forces to conduct a normal electoral campaign, culminated in their “action”, with the murder of Burhan in the Voting Center, just because he did not allow the manipulation and deformation of the vote… Burhan’s wife, Luljeta, was pregnant.

A few months later, the son she was expecting was born. In memory of her husband, the mother named her newborn son Burhan. Burhan Misiraj is today a candidate for MP and aims to return the votes of the Democrats for which his father gave his life to the benefit of every young person in Fier and Albania.
