"I live in Tirana, number 313, single status", Ilir Meta goes to court, Monika Kryemadhi listens outside the glass cage

Former President Ilir Meta is participating this Friday in the next court session being held against him at the Special Court, while his ex-wife Monika Kryemadhi is also present outside the glass cage.

Asked by the presiding judge about generalities, Ilir Meta stated that he currently lives in Tirana, in Prison 313, and regarding his status, he said that he is single, sparing no irony about his ex-wife.

"I currently live in Tirana. Resident at 313. Marital status: single, meaning divorced," said Ilir Meta.

His lawyer, Kujtim Cakrani, stated that the Special Court should take measures to remove the glass cage because the former President cannot be held in such conditions, while the head of the trial panel has drawn his attention to it.

"I have a preliminary request. I made a request to you a week ago regarding the glass cage. I also made it to the embassies, the Albanian Helsinki Committee, but I haven't made it to the Ombudsman, because it's useless," the lawyer said.

The leader of the Freedom Party insisted again today that the black platoons allow live broadcasts of court hearings, due to public interest, but also because according to Ilir Meta, there is no reason not to have a broadcast.

Ilir Meta: I ask you to reconsider the issue of live broadcasting. We have our own point of view when it comes to this issue. I would also ask you to look at the OSCE/ODIHR report, which states that 90% of the media is controlled by the government. I really don't see any reason why this process shouldn't be broadcast live.

The government is bent on distorting the facts. In this way, the people will not have the opportunity to see the truth. I am not asking this question for myself, because of the positions I have held, but I am asking it for all the defendants.
