The one who until a few months ago was considered one of Rama's successors at the head of the Socialist Party, has today been forgotten even by his closest political associates.

Erion Veliaj, imprisoned for more than 3 months by order of SPAK, seems to be a closed chapter for the SP and the Socialists, who now dare not even mention his name in the campaign or on television.

Rama's attacks on SPAK were just a "show" to keep the SP united when the issue was still hot, while after the message from the head of government to the parliamentary group ordering Veliaj not to defend himself publicly, oblivion has come for the mayor.

In the Municipality, his confidants left "by force", after a 24-hour "war" between Rama and Veliaj, where the latter sought to take back the reins of the Municipality, in which the Prime Minister has declared himself "de facto" mayor.

Veliaj's omission seems to have an impact on the candidates for MPs who were supported by the mayor, including Fatmir Xhafaj, Etien Xhafaj, Klotilda Bushka and Blerina Gjylameti. All of them are on the open list, and without Veliaj's support, they will have a hard time being part of the next Parliament.

Today, Erion Veliaj is a closed chapter for the Socialist Party, just like Saimir Tahiri, Arben Ahmetaj and many others who have ended up behind bars.

Even his stay at the head of the Municipality of Tirana seems not to be long, as there is talk within the SP that Rama will lead the Municipality to early elections as soon as the May 11 elections are over, where according to all polls, he will receive a fourth governing mandate.

After May 11, Erion Veliaj will be the "past" of the Socialist Party, as he alone will have to face SPAK and the hundreds of pages of dossier prepared by prosecutors, who have revealed in detail how corruption had been rampant in his office.

SPAK also has the "5D" file or the Tirana Incinerator file, which has several prisoners, while it is not surprising that there is also a "pentito" that reveals the involvement of the mayor./ Ditar.al
