"Answering questions about the path of the Nation...", Basha replies

The political leader of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, Lulzim Basha, during a Facebook conversation with citizens, responded to a commenter who asked him about the investigations on the Durrës-Kukës road. “ The National Road is the pride of my life. Even if my political life ended there, I would be proud ,” said Basha.

He stressed that the justice system has never found evidence of any abuse on his part, despite political attacks over the years. "If they had a single fact, they would have taken me back to the Prosecutor's Office. But they don't, because there isn't one."

Basha further said that in order to guarantee the purity of his image, he has proposed in Parliament the draft law for the vetting of politicians and control of their assets, saying that if necessary, the process should be initiated by him. He said that although he has been bringing the draft law to Parliament for a year and a half, they are not even bringing it to the agenda because they are afraid.

He called on citizens to support the Euro-Atlantic Coalition to give more power to SPAK and to guarantee that the money is in the pockets of citizens, not the corrupt.

Excerpts from the conversation:

Astrit Koxhaj : What about you, Luli, have you settled your scores with justice for the Durrës-Kukës road?

Lulzim Basha:  Astrit, I have said it and I repeat it, the Durrës-Kukës road is the pride of my life. If I knew that with all the war and mud they caused, I would end my political life there, I would still be very happy for that centuries-old work, for that legacy of generations that connects Albania with Kosovo and that has become a giant artery for the Albanian economy.

Those who tried to make it dirty, and who tried to open a non-existent case against me, got the answer right from justice: There was no accusation that the Prosecutor's Office could formulate and the court could judge. But I had Astrit for 15 years, 12 years of power with accusations and propaganda and with slander to take him back to the Prosecutor's Office if there was a single fact of abuse on my part in the path of the Nation. But they can't find it, Astrit. Because they measure things by their own box, for them it is unimaginable to do such a major deed without stealing.

While for me, the path of the Nation remains the pride of my life. So to give a good answer to this matter, join the Euro-Atlantic Coalition and let's vet politicians, starting with me, Astrit. Let's check my wealth, my family, my social circle, my inappropriate connections, but also all 140 MPs, the entire government cabinet, all senior state leaders, vet politicians year after year, just like we did with judges and prosecutors.

I have been pushing this bill in the Albanian Parliament for a year and a half and they are not even bringing it to the agenda, Astrit. Because they are afraid, it does not even occur to them to approve it because they have a fly under their hat. And secondly, when the moment of voting comes, it is understood that those who vote against, and who speak out against corruption, are in fact the most corrupt.

So I speak with deeds Astrit, proud of the path of the Nation, pro-vetting of politicians, pro-control of politicians' wealth, pro-SPAK. That the money cannot be in your pockets and in the pockets of your friends in the 313th. So vote for the Euro-Atlantic Coalition so that we can give more power to SPAK and the money can be in your pockets and the pockets of your friends and your family.
