Politics never gets old: The 35-year-old spectacle of Berisha and Rama

Journalist Poli Hoxha has brought a sharp analysis of today's events in Student City, bringing attention back to what happened exactly 35 years ago, in the historic December of 1990.

Hoxha writes that at that time, Sali Berisha "emerged" among the students standing up for democracy and gave a speech where he first thanked Ramiz Alina - which was met with boos - and then promised "Albania like all of Europe."

At that time, the journalist emphasizes, Berisha was the age of the fathers of the students of December.

Today, after three and a half decades, Berisha returned to the same place, with the slogan "The Uninterrupted December Movement", surrounded not by former students, but by young people who are today the same age as the children of those who protested in 1990.
Hoxha notes that none of the December students are in the leadership of the Democratic Party today – while Berisha is the only one who has remained as an unbroken "legend" of that time.
He highlights that Berisha again used the phrase he told students 35 years ago:
"The future is ours, now it's our turn."
While today, according to the article, he addressed this same message to the generation of their children and grandchildren.
The journalist recalls that Edi Rama was also there in December 1990 and gave a speech to the students. But today, according to Hoxha, he sends a completely different message to the young:
“The present and the future are ours until 2030… apply for new thieves in the places that SPAK leaves empty.”
At the end of his article, Poli Hoxha ironically emphasizes that Albania has passed 35 years, but the political faces and promises have remained the same, adding:
"We are fine... what are another 35 years with those who promised us 'Albania like the rest of Europe'?"
Like today 35 years ago, Sali Berisha, "survived" in the Student City where he gave a speech to the students who had risen up for democracy. After thanking his comrade Ramiz Alia, (He was booed), he promised "Albania like all of Europe". At that time, Berisha was the age of the fathers of the December students. Today, after 35 years, he appeared again at the same "crime scene" with the slogan "The Uninterrupted Movement of December", with young people who are today the age of the children of the former December students. Of the latter, none is in the leadership of the DP, but there is the legend that continues their dream uninterruptedly! "The future is ours, now it is our turn", he told the students 35 years ago, "It is our turn, the future is ours", he also told their children and grandchildren today! Even Edi Rama was there and gave a speech to the students 35 years ago, except that today he says to their "children": The present and the future are ours until 2030, apply for new thieves in the places that SPAK leaves empty! We are fine, what are another 35 years with those who gave us speeches about "Albania like the rest of Europe", 35 years ago?!
