Professor Rexhep Uka returns to the public stage alongside Lulzim Basha:

Professor Rexhep Uka, one of the historical founders of the Democratic Party, delivered an emotional speech full of strong messages during the presentation of the candidates for deputies of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, where he was present alongside the political leader of the coalition, Lulzim Basha.

In an atmosphere full of enthusiasm in Kamëz, the town where Uka said he was born 72 years ago, the professor confessed that it was the second time he could not say no to politics. “The first was in 2005, after 1996. The second is today. I came with a clear conscience and I am filled with hope,” he said.

In his speech, Uka reflected deeply on the journey of the Democratic Party, the mistakes of the past, the lack of analysis and the importance of rotation, without falling into the trap of political recycling. “Democracy is not a destination, but a station. Beware of recycling! The Albanian people have been frightened by that parliament,” he emphasized, calling on citizens to vote for people with bright minds, experience and dedication.

A highlight of the speech was when Uka mentioned Lulzim Basha, recalling that in 2007 he had seen him as a figure worthy of prime minister: "He is a Westerner who has not had a communist education like us."

He did not forget to mention the hope that, according to him, SPAK represents today, as an institution that is truly affecting justice and the people's demands for accountability.

Speaking about Kamza, as a symbol of the unity of people from all parts of Albania, Uka described the city as a unique asset with a synergy of experiences, which has always had a protagonist role.

In conclusion, with a deep sense of responsibility and hope, Uka emphasized: "Parliament is our face. It is in our hands to change it and bring our true face there."

Thank you and good luck! - he concluded his speech amidst applause from those present.

Full speech:

I have been retired from politics for a long time, but twice I have found myself in a difficult situation and could not refuse an invitation. The first was after 1996, in 2005 when I received the invitation from Puka, - I am originally from Puka, - and my father told me "you have no choice, you will go!"; and today, I came today. I made a small investment, because I was also part of the program on June 1.

This is great hope. But let's see, this came, because we couldn't do it, let alone what they say, - I brought it, he brought it, they left us and we did as much as we could. NO! Finally, we have a good example. Let's take these boys there and let them do that task, that demand that this people has. We, in this country, - because I don't want to break away from Kamza, - have a wealth that few places have in Albania, - this is my study. Kamza was founded by foreigners. The locals have been among the most honorable people, the most honorable families, who have had a symphony, an extraordinary agreement that has welcomed them. Most have been northerners. I am connected with a thousand threads with everyone, with Puka, with Kukës, with Tropoja, my nephew there, with the south, with marriages and so on. Kamza's starring role has always been. Kamza has always been the protagonist. Why? Because there is a synergy of experiences. Here, initially, the people of Lumjan did not get along with the people of Pogradec or Gjirokastër, but they exchanged their experiences and have always been protagonists in the rule.

So honestly, I did well to come, because I made my participation here conscious, but I was filled with hope. Don't forget, I was in that team, - there's no room for decorations here, - but when we went to Circassia, we passed through Terkuza four times, the first day we met one, the next day they called us two more, the day after tomorrow there were 4-5 and it reached the whole pond. That's how it starts!

This Euro-Atlantic coalition was achieved in our time. Therefore, I told Lul Basha, I will tell him publicly today, that in 2007, I had thought of him as prime minister. It had not even occurred to him then. Let him be sorry, but he would be glad. And it is written, in black and white. And I said: It is a Western piece that has not eaten the communist education like us. The day has come. We have it in our hands, let no one complain, because parliament is ultimately our face. Hegel said it. We must change it and show our true face.

Thank you and good luck!
