Rama continues his remarks with Farage: Let's set a date for you to come to

The Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama, has reacted again to the recent statements of Nigel Farage, who claims that "1 in 48 Albanians in Britain is in prison."

It was the Prime Minister who started this Tuesday morning with a harsh reaction to the statements made by MP Farage, who repeated his claims about the involvement of Albanians in criminal activities in the United Kingdom.

In a reaction posted on the social network "X", Rama called Farage's statements wrong.

Rama's reaction comes after Farage publicly accepted the invitation to visit Albania and discuss the agreement for the return of Albanian prisoners from the United Kingdom. In his replies, he criticizes Farage for misusing statistics against Albanians, thus dismissing his reports.

"From "one criminal in fifty Albanians ", your claim has now turned into: " Maybe it's one in three, maybe one in four, I don't know..." Really?! You don't know? And this comes after you say you double-checked the numbers?

I have already directed you to The Telegraph's own data (generously, I might say) by choosing your reference, albeit a self-contradictory one. But you seem determined to persist in your error. So let me help you with further clarification.

According to data from the Albanian Embassy in the UK, an institution that deals with real people, not Brexit phrases, the number of Albanians in your country is not 53,000, as The Telegraph initially suggested. In fact, in the same article, it admits, and I quote, “the analysis is likely to underestimate the size of the Albanian population.” It then speculates that the figure could be as high as 140,000.

In reality, Mr Farage, you know what? The figure is over 300,000, brother! These are the people who educate your children, build your homes, care for your elderly and sick. They are not meat for the teeth of post-Brexit brainwashing propaganda. They are part of the living, breathing fabric of your society.

Even without controlling for age, gender, or socioeconomic status, your ratios fall. Not even one in fifty. And certainly not one in three or four. These are not statistics, they are scare tactics disguised as data.

So, let me ask you clearly: why is it so difficult to admit that you were wrong, without dragging an entire community of brilliant, hardworking people who serve your homeland with dignity as if it were their own?

Britain is already great, and not least because of its diversity, its resilience and its multicultural strength. A nation in post-traumatic political stress has no need for scapegoats. No need for cheap shots. And certainly no need for myths instead of facts.

I sincerely hope that your upcoming visit to Albania will inspire you to fight for ideas, rather than against people, in the spirit of the great liberal tradition that your country has long stood for.

"I look forward to welcoming you to our beautiful country as an honored guest. But before you arrive to enjoy the real sunshine and sincere hospitality, can we agree to discuss the facts, not your post-realist fantasies? " Rama wrote.

On the other hand, Farage has not been stingy with his comments towards Prime Minister Rama, attached to the acceptance of the invitation.

" This is unbelievable, but true. One in every 50 Albanians in Britain is in prison. I recently mentioned this issue on GB News. But Edi Rama, the Prime Minister of Albania, a well-known and powerful figure, reacted by calling me untrue and said that the figures I presented are completely wrong.

He also criticized Britain for daring to consider deporting people who have failed asylum claims. Ironically, he himself is negotiating a deal with Italy to take in some of their rejected asylum seekers. This is a double standard — especially from a pro-EU, anti-Brexit prime minister.

Well, Eddie, if you are truly a just man, why don't you take all the Albanian prisoners who are here in Britain? He even stated that, if my figures were correct, he would agree to return every Albanian who is in prison in the United Kingdom.

We have verified and re-evaluated our data. We are confident in it. But Edi says we were wrong, because there are thousands of illegal Albanians in Britain. If that is true, then the percentage of prisoners may not be one in 50. Maybe it is one in three. Maybe one in four. I don't know exactly.

What is clear is that the clash with the Albanian Prime Minister continues. In fact, this afternoon I was invited to the Albanian state television. But, to give him the credit he deserves, Edi Rama has invited me to go to Albania to talk about this issue. And yes, I will accept the invitation for lunch — and I will report on everything after the visit, ” Nigel Farage wrote in his post at the moment he accepted the Prime Minister's invitation to come to Albania.
