The former mayor of Shkodra, Bardh Spahia, spoke to the media after the conclusion of the preliminary hearing at the Special Court.
Spahia, who has been taken into custody by SPAK and is accused of "Obstructing the execution of court decisions," said he has requested a normal trial because "I am convinced that the lawsuit was prepared in the offices of the Socialist Party, who are using a person convicted of theft and corruption to file a lawsuit against me to use him politically during the election period."
According to him, the accusation is ridiculous, adding that he will receive an answer on May 11th.
Bardh Spahia : It was a formality of the court to send my case for trial. I did not accept the summary trial, I requested the normal trial, being convinced that it is a lawsuit prepared in the offices of the Socialist Party, who are using a person convicted of theft and corruption to file a lawsuit against me to use him politically during the electoral period.
The accusation does not hold up. Throughout my career, I have been guided by the implementation of the law and the protection of the interests of my citizens.
I only applied the law. The accusation and lawsuit are based on political grounds and messages that will receive the appropriate response on May 11. They will not stop or slow us down on the path to victory on May 11.
I believe in the necessity of implementing the law and its respect by every citizen and state structure.
The accusation is ridiculous, absurd. It is about a lawsuit for the dismissal of a former director who was mayor of the municipality, and in the function of chairman of the assembly of the Shkodër Water Supply Company.
