Albania signs an agreement on the recognition of pensions with Croatia, more than 3000 Albanians benefit

Prime Minister Edi Rama is on an official visit to Croatia, where he was received with ceremony by his counterpart, Andrej Plenković. The Albanian delegation has signed two agreements with the government of Croatia, one for the recognition of pensions that benefit over 3,000 Albanians living there, as well as an agreement in the field of medicine.

Ministri i Financave Ervin Mete dhe Ministri i Punës, Sistemit të Pensioneve, Familjes dhe Politikës Sociale të Kroacisë, Marin Piletić nënshkruan në Zagreb, marrëveshjen për mbrojtjen shoqërore. Kjo marrëveshje u siguron qytetarëve të të dyja vendeve njohjen e ndërsjellët të kontributeve të sigurimeve shoqërore për përfitimin e pensioneve. 

Formalizimi i marrëveshjes midis Shqipërisë dhe Kroacisë mundëson koordinimin e skemave të sigurimeve shoqërore në përputhje me standardet e legjislacionit evropian, duke mundësuar gjithashtu përfitimet e papunësisë, pagesat e barrëlindjes, përfitime në para në rastin e aksidenteve në punë, etj.

Janë mbi 3,000 shtetas shqiptarë, të cilët jetojnë e punojnë në Kroaci, që pritet të përfitojnë nga kjo marrëveshje.

Thanks to the agreement on social protection, which will start to be implemented after ratification by the parliaments of both countries, citizens will not lose their paid contributions, regardless of where they worked. It is based on some basic principles such as equal treatment, preservation of rights achieved, consolidation of insurance periods, as well as the provision of benefits, both inside and outside the country of origin.

The day before, on October 1, the agreement with Switzerland entered into force, while Albania implements agreements in the field of social security with Turkey, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Canada, Germany, North Macedonia, Luxembourg, Kosovo, Austria and Belgium. Agreements with Romania, Bulgaria and Montenegro are in the process of being ratified by foreign parties.
