During a meeting with freelance professionals in Tirana, the political leader of the Euro-Atlantic Coalition, Lulzim Basha, emphasized the importance of self-organization of freelance professions as a right and a public good, noting that these structures should not be transformed into corporations with monopolistic goals.

He praised the contribution of professional orders in raising standards and emphasized that the state should stay out of interfering in their organization.

" Unquestionably, the organization and self-organization of liberal professions is a right and a public good, as long as it does not serve as a corporation with quasi-monopoly goals. Because this would then turn against the public interest. But I know that this has never been the goal or agenda of the order of engineers or other professional orders. As long as it protects the rights and seeks the further advancement of professional standards of any profession, the public sector, the state, the government has no business being involved in these forms of self-organization except by encouraging the embrace of best practices such as the European Union" - said Basha.

Basha also spoke about the point of the program that foresees the reform of the SAI, emphasizing that the goal is to return this institution to an audit court with executive power. According to him, it is no longer enough to just give recommendations, but its findings must have direct legal consequences.

" Our commitment in relations with the SAI is to turn it into an entity with executive power. So, today the SAI has the power of recommendation. So, it is a beacon of the people's ombudsman. Of course, they can refer to the Prosecutor's Office, its own reports as a rule should be indications for criminal prosecution, unquestionably as a rule. Now with the presence of SPAK, they are indications and we know that many investigations have been launched because of the SAI audit reports. But we will take the most advanced practice, by transforming the SAI into an audit court, where the findings of this court will have executive power and not simply be recommendations. This has been disclosed in our plan published on June 1 of last year. So you can find it on our website, vote 4 points al" - he said.
