Spahiu: Financing the DP contract against the law, party sponsorship by one person cannot exceed $10,000

Lawyer and analyst Kreshnik Spahiu, in an interview for Report TV, analyzed the $6 million contract between the Democratic Party and the American company "Continental Strategy", owned by someone close to Trump, to lobby the American government on behalf of the party and Sali Berisha for a two-year period.
According to him, the contract was made in violation of the law on political party financing, which stipulates that a person or entity cannot finance a party with more than 10 thousand dollars.
"A financing for political parties, from natural or legal persons, cannot be more than 1 million lek, if we convert it into dollars, no more than 10 thousand dollars. This electrician who financed the DP with 6 million dollars has committed an illegal act, financing in violation of the law, because the law on party financing does not allow more than 10 thousand dollars of financing. Financing from abroad is not allowed, but since it can still be an Albanian citizen, it can be foreseen, but no more than that. The second legal violation is that any political entity cannot be sponsored by private entities more than 10 percent of the value financed by the state. 6 million dollars exceeds the maximum values of the DP itself for financing the electoral campaign", said Spahiu.
He says that the Albanian-American Nuredin Seci, even if he is a billionaire, cannot finance the DP with such a considerable amount. According to him, the law on party financing was drafted by the Berisha government itself.
"A person who is an electrician, but also a billionaire, cannot finance 6 million dollars. The DP itself voted for this law. The law on party financing was drafted by the Berisha government, and that you cannot be financed more than 10 thousand dollars and more than 10 times from the state budget," added Spahiu.
The lawyer states that such an amount will be wasted by Berisha if he aims to abolish the women's right, since the USA cannot be bought with money.
"6 million dollars will be worthless to remove Berisha's wife. It will go to waste. The USA cannot be bought with 6 million or 6 billion. Time will tell if this money will go to waste, I hope it will really be used to strengthen the DP's relations with the USA. The USA will also react to this contract, but after May 12, it will be the subject of a long legal, criminal, legal and media debate. May 12 will be a debate on this issue," he added.
Further, he says that the CEC must react after there have been arrests for electoral crimes for an amount of only 50 euros, and it cannot remain silent about a case such as Berisha's.
"I would say that the CEC should react for another reason, because we have an unprecedented case. The CEC, all political parties, all institutions, embassies are silent, that is, how is it possible for such conformism to exist for a country as poor as Albania," he added.
