Terror at midnight/Ecuadorian footballer's wife and son are taken, he hides under the bed

Amid a wild wave of crime that has swept Ecuador, famous Emelec footballer Jackson Rodriguez experienced moments of terror when armed men raided his apartment in Guayaquil.
The incident happened on Wednesday at around 3:00 a.m., when the attackers broke down the door and forced their way into the house, The Sun reports.
Rodriguez, 26, hid under a bed to escape as the perpetrators abducted his wife and five-year-old son. He watched them drive away in a gray double-cab pickup truck from the window.
The incident took place in the Mucho Lote 2 neighborhood, in an area covered by a state of emergency declared by the government due to the escalation of violence and the activity of criminal groups. In the first quarter of the year alone, over 2,300 violent murders have been reported in the country.
Rodriguez has played nine games this season in LigaPro, the top league in Ecuador, and his team is currently in 11th place.
Similar kidnapping cases have occurred before – last December, footballer Pedro Perlaza was kidnapped in Esmeraldas and found alive a few days later.
