He was shot with eggs and yogurt, the president of the EPP wrote a letter to Rama about Beleri: No preventive measures were taken

The President of the European People's Party, Manfred Weber, has sent a letter to Prime Minister Edi Rama, where he condemned the egg and yogurt attack on MEP Fredi Beleri, which happened on October 29 near the Presidency of the Assembly, during his participation in the Delegation meetings. of the EU-Albania Stabilization-Association Parliamentary Committee.
Weber states in his letter that the attack on Beler, who has diplomatic status as a member of this delegation, was an unacceptable action, which included verbal and physical violence by a protester during the MEP's exit from the Albanian Parliament.
Also, he added that this incident is a failure of the host state in guaranteeing the safety and integrity of a representative of the European Union, and expresses concern about the lack of adequate protective measures in this particular case. He underlined that the incident could have been prevented, if the Albanian authorities had taken the appropriate security measures for Beler's official mission.
Weber called on Prime Minister Rama to make sure that such events will not happen again in the future and that Albania's international commitments will be respected within the EU integration process.
" This attack constitutes a failure of the host state and, if security measures had been taken, it could have been avoided. I strongly condemn this incident and ask you to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again, respecting Albania's international commitments ," Weber concluded.
