Refusing to provide a public explanation, the Democratic Party has attempted to withdraw signatures for the People's Advocate candidates, after having given them support. This attempt was rejected today by the Laws Committee, as Sali Berisha declared that from this moment on, the DP does not support any candidate.
The leader of the DP has even described the process as a farce, while also targeting Endrit Shaban. But the latter turns out to have received 35 signatures from the Democrats, more than three-quarters of them in the Assembly.
The decision of Berisha and the DP remains questionable, especially when they boasted in the television studios that they had found the best candidates, including Shabani.
"Any candidacy that bears the signatures of the deputies of the Democratic Party and our allies is dignified for the People's Advocate. Albanians have no problem with who is the candidate for People's Advocate. Albanians have problems with corruption, the tunnel, the roads, garbage, drugs, theft" - said Flamur Noka to Ylli Rakipi.
