Rama's 'Israeli' friend who would buy public debt according to

Former Deputy Prime Minister Arben Ahmetaj publicly accused Prime Minister Edi Rama yesterday of asking him to change the law to sell Albania's public debt to an Israeli friend of his. Ahmetaj provided specific details regarding this favor requested by Rama. According to him, the episode occurred in 2018, shortly before the country entered the Eurobond, in an office called the "Flower Room" in the Prime Minister's Office, the Prime Minister's office space, where he eats lunch.

"I have an episode with the head of the organization and an Israeli friend of his at the flower garden. Because in addition to the Garden of Eden, there is also the flower room where he eats. He asked me at the table with his friend, I was before the Eurobond issue, in 2018, to transfer the debt privately (private slement) to his friend. He insisted twice. I told him it can't be done. It's not in Albania's interest. It's illegal, the costs are hidden, Albania loses and tomorrow it's impossible to enter the international market. It's about 1 billion dollars.
So that the public debt would go to one person. Let him come out and oppose it if he wants. In the meantime, after he insisted, I returned to the Ministry of Finance, sat down with 3-4 of the employees there and for the sake of my insistence on no, we did the math. So, for this Altin, you should have thrown me in prison if I had done it. "You should have put that mask on me, like in that movie, you were the hero of our children there. I went back to him and said it can't be done, besides that there is also a problem with the law. Then we change the law, he said. No, I told him, I don't touch the law, except only with the advice of the WB and the IMF," said Ahmetaj.

Well-informed sources told Dosja.al that the Israeli in question, who according to Ahmetaj is a friend of the prime minister, is Ron Yeffet. This character, although not mentioned by name by Ahmetaj, is the person to whom the prime minister wanted to sell the public debt.

Ahmetaj's accusation was made on this issue, but it seems that Yennef has well-established roots within the Albanian government. The dossier also revealed that Yeffet is the owner of at least 3 businesses officially in Albania. “1820 Black Oil”, “1820 Albania” and “UNO18” are the 3 names under which he officially operates in Albania. “Uno18” was founded on September 2, 2024, and focuses on the trade of aircraft, such as airplanes, helicopters and other spare parts for them.

Interestingly, this company was founded at the same time that the bankruptcy of Air Albania was publicly announced. But what connects the Israeli to the aircraft trade?

Neither more nor less, but “Air Albania” itself. In July 2018, when Ahmetaj declared that Rama had asked him to sell Yeffet's public debt, the Israeli became part of another business. Immediately after the creation of “Air Albania”, the sole partner of the company, Sinan Idrizi, sold most of the company's shares. At least 23 percent of them were transferred to Ron Yeffet, while 27 percent were transferred to Najada and Reajana Idrizi. The sale was accompanied by a decision of the general assembly and a share transfer document. The contract between the parties was signed on July 17, 2018 and the value of the sale of the shares is 77 thousand euros in total.

So, if in Ahmetaj's case, according to what Ahmetaj himself states, he did not accept and the deal was not fulfilled, in the case of "Air Albania" the deal was finalized and the Israeli became a shareholder in a business where the Albanian state was represented by "Albcontroll" and according to the agreement, together with MDN Investment, it would have the majority of this business over the Turks of "Turkish Airlines".

Who brought Ron Yeffet to "Air Albania"? What was the Prime Minister's influence? Could this be a pure case of government influence and corruption that allocates projects intended for Albanian citizens to the Prime Minister's supposed friends, who seem more like his 'partners' than friends.
