May 11 elections, over 245 thousand envelopes with ballots are sent to the diaspora, 8400 arrive at the CEC

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has announced that so far a total of 245,650 envelopes with ballots have been sent to Albanian citizens living abroad, in the framework of the May 11 elections.
According to the latest data published on the official CEC website, 58,128 envelopes have already been received by voters in the diaspora, while 8,401 of them have arrived at the CEC headquarters in Albania.
Ballot papers have been sent to Albanian citizens from 12 different regions of the country, who currently live in different countries around the world.
The Tirana region holds the highest number of ballots distributed with 51,520 envelopes, followed by Fier with 31,752, Elbasan with 25,022, Durrës with 24,872 and then other regions.
In the breakdown by host country, the most envelopes were sent to:
United States of America: 20,274
Voters in the diaspora have until the first week of May to complete and return their ballots by mail. The CEC announces that any vote received after 19:00 on May 11 will not be taken into consideration and will be considered invalid.
