The baby that worried the public in "Squid Game 3" is not what it

The third season of “Squid Game” has once again captured the world’s attention, with a dark and emotional finale that has kept audiences glued to the screen. But, amidst the violent scenes and crazy challenges, another detail has surprised viewers: the mysterious and scary baby that appears during several key episodes.

Many of them have shared the uneasy feeling her presence caused them, calling her “disturbing,” “inhuman,” and “terribly real.” And rightly so, because she is not a real baby.

The truth behind this small but influential character is even stranger than the series itself: it is a hyper-realistic robot built specifically for the series. With a weight, size and facial expressions almost identical to a living baby, this technological creation has been further enhanced with CGI effects to increase the emotional intensity of some scenes.

Why wasn't a real baby used? Due to legal restrictions in South Korea, long shooting schedules, and the psychologically demanding nature of some scenes, the team decided not to mix footage of a real baby with that of the robot, to maintain visual coherence and believability on screen.

This isn't the first time technology has "fooled" the public. Another character who isn't alive this season is... a dog! He was also created through a combination of robotics and computer effects.

"Squid Game" continues to prove that it is not afraid to experiment, not only with the narrative, but also with the way the reality that the audience sees is constructed.
