Jeremy Renner releases new book ''My Next Breath'', details incident that broke 38 bones

Jeremy Renner shared in his new book "My Next Breath," which will be released on April 29, details about the serious accident that almost cost him his life on New Year's Day 2023, when he was hit by a snowplow. The 54-year-old star, speaking to People magazine on the occasion of the book's release, confessed that it is a part of his life that reminds him of the power of man.
" Writing about it was very cathartic on an emotional level, I had to go through what happened literally. I don't shy away from talking about it. It's a part of my life every day and it's always a wonderful reminder of the power of the human spirit, how fragile the body is and how incredible it is in recovery," he told People.
In his book, the 54-year-old actor described the severe injuries he suffered, with over 35 broken bones, as well as the moment of the blow to the head, where, as he writes, "I was seeing my left eye with my right."
"I'm not haunted by the incident, at least not often, neither by the images nor the sounds. But it reminds me of my new reality and it's extremely positive. I didn't die," he admitted.
The accident happened as Renner was trying to prevent a snowplow from sweeping away his 27-year-old nephew, Alex. Although he has since clarified that the latter is now doing very well, the experience that morning left a deep trauma for everyone involved.
"Alex read the book. We never tried to 'sweep it under the rug.' If I get better, then he'll get better. It puts images in his mind that he'll never forget, so I'll do everything to get better. I heal him, he heals me. It's a beautiful thing," he added.
He describes his recovery in the first days after the accident as admirable. As in Alex's case, Renner places great importance on family support, where the main person is his 12-year-old daughter, Ava: It was a wonderful gift to show my daughter how fragile someone can be, but also how she can overcome such difficulties. You can't teach this to a child, they have to see it happen. It was my fuel to get better. I refused to give her the fear or uncertainty that I wouldn't be there for her. I have worked hard in my life to ensure that my daughter has mental strength and is not afraid of anything.
The actor also revealed for the first time how his mother, Valerie, explained to her daughter how the accident happened: My daughter was scared and felt helpless. That's why I gave her the assignment: You have to be my hands and feet. You have to help Dad now. You have to do this and that, but I promise you that if you wait for me, I'll be fine.
