Japanese actress Miho Nakayama was found dead in the bathtub at her home in Tokyo, according to "Daily Mail".
The 54-year-old was best known for her role in the 1995 film Love Letter, which won international acclaim and won her several awards for best actress.
She also found success as a singer at the height of J-pop's influence in the 1980s and 90s, becoming one of Japan's most popular teen idols.
After she failed to show up for work on Friday (Dec 6), a colleague went to Ms Nakayama's home and found her unconscious.
He called the ambulance, who confirmed her death at the scene, while the cause of her death is being investigated.
Police said she was found sitting upright in the bathroom, according to Japanese media.
