British model dies suddenly while on holiday in Greece

The former British supermodel Georgina Cooper - once the image of the group 'Cool Britannia', close friend of Kate Moss - has died suddenly at the age of 46 on the Greek island of Kos a few months after marriage, reports the local network MailOnline.

Numerous tributes were paid to her from the world of fashion and entertainment, from models and actors such as Jade Parfitt, Erin O'Connor, Jodie Kidd and Helena Christensen, who called her a ray of light for her achievements.

Georgina was staying in Kos at the Marianna Hotel with her husband when she suddenly fell ill at the end of last month and staff called an ambulance.

The doctors of the island, without giving the cause of the serious condition, sent her by helicopter to the hospital of Crete, where the deceased stayed for five days with no possibility of improvement until she passed away.

This week her body was returned to England.

A local source from Kos said: “She has been coming here on holiday for almost 20 years. He was known by everyone in the hotel where he was staying. He was here in July for his honeymoon after the wedding."

"This sudden death and illness is shocking to us. She wanted to settle here and start a business, it's so sad."

Her former representative Dean Goodman told the MailOnline network: "She loved Greece very much and told me she was going back with her husband."

"Georgina was sick during the time of Covid and since then often in the hospital, she could not recover from the problems. She got married this year and had plans for the future. We are stunned, she was a real superstar for us."

Georgina began her modeling career at a young age and appeared in a Bon Jovi music video when she was just 15 years old.

It is not known the reason for the death of the deceased, who in recent years was involved in considerable charity for health issues, motivated by her own problems since the time of Covid.

Her sister-in-law Tracey Wallace described Georgina's death as a 'tragedy'.

Wallace, 45, said: "My boyfriend Shane is Georgina's brother, this is a tragedy, I don't know what to say."

Georgina was close to fellow model from London, Kate Moss, with whom they have worked with magazines and the biggest fashion houses.

She was a mother of one child and appeared several times on the covers of magazines such as Vogue and The Face.

The deceased said in 2018: "After I gave birth to my son, I could not leave him alone and I reduced my working hours a lot. I was working alone in London as I decided that Sonny should come first."

"I started this job when I was 14 years old when my mother entered me in a magazine competition in 1992—I came third in the competition and my mother and father were very proud of me."

The cause of the sudden death has not been published, writes the local Daily Mail network.
