Shakria speaks for the first time about the separation from Pique: It was very difficult

Shakira has spoken for the first time about her separation from Gerard Pique after 12 years.
The 45-year-old Colombian singer showed her difficulty after deciding to end her relationship with the 35-year-old soccer star for Elle magazine.
Shakira - who has two sons: nine-year-old Milan and seven-year-old Sasha with Pique expressed:
'It is the first time that I deal with this situation in an interview. I stayed quiet and just tried to process it all. Well, it's hard to talk about, especially because I'm still dealing with the situation and because I'm in the public eye and because our breakup isn't like a regular breakup. And so it has been difficult not only for me, but also for my children. Too hard.'
Shakira further added that this period has been difficult for her family, especially because of the media and her fans.
'It's difficult. And I have tried to hide the situation from my children. I try to do it and protect them because that is my number one mission in life.
"But then they hear things at school from their friends or come across some unpleasant news on the Internet, and it just affects them, you know?"
Shakira and Pique announced their separation in June of this year.
The reason was Pique's relationship with the 23-year-old student Clara Chia Marti, which Shakira refused to talk about during her interview.
