— Open letter to members of the Socialist Party —
Honorable members of the Socialist Party,
Honorable members elected to the leading forums of the Socialist Party,
I am addressing you publicly, as a citizen of this country, but also as a socialist since the founding of the Socialist Party, and as a former member of the Presidency of the Socialist Party and its mandate as a minister in several socialist governments, because I believe that now, not tomorrow, is the moment for each of you to reflect on the political, civic and moral responsibility that each of you bears as a member of the political force that governs Albania. The Socialist Party was not created to serve the political interests of an individual. It cannot be the personal property of Edi Rama nor be transformed into a structure that is silent, obedient and justifies everything, just to protect its leader.
Albania is more important than Edi Rama.
This is the truth that every socialist must have the courage to accept.
On the fifth day of massive protests, accompanied by violent clashes between citizens and the police, it is unacceptable that the leading forums of the Socialist Party do not maintain a public and institutional stance on the created situation.
Do you really think that your responsibility ends where Edi Rama's will begins? Do you believe that your duty is to remain silent whenever the country faces a crisis that directly affects its governance?
You should not allow an entire party to hide behind its leader, while the country faces serious political and social tensions. You cannot claim to represent the citizens if you do not find the courage to listen to their concerns and hold them accountable for the political direction of the country.
As members of the Socialist Party, you must understand that citizens voted for the Socialist Party to govern Albania, not to give Edi Rama the right to identify his personal interest with the interest of the state.
Edi Rama is the leader of the Socialist Party and the Prime Minister of Albania. But he is not Albania. He cannot be simultaneously the party, the government, the state and the sole voice that determines everyone's position.
Loyalty to the Socialist Party cannot mean blind loyalty to Edi Rama.
Nëse e doni vërtet Shqipërinë dhe Partinë Socialiste, duhet të keni guximin t’i mbroni ato nga çdo përpjekje për t’i identifikuar me fatin politik të një njeriu të vetëm. Nëse besoni te historia dhe idealet e Partisë Socialiste, duhet të dëshmoni se ato janë më të rëndësishme se pushteti i përkohshëm i kujtdo që e drejton.
Një parti politike nuk e tregon forcën e saj duke duartrokitur kryetarin në çdo rrethanë. Ajo e tregon forcën kur ka kurajën të diskutojë, të kritikojë, të kërkojë llogari dhe të marrë përgjegjësi, edhe kur kjo e vë përballë kryetarit të vet.
Sot, kur qytetarët protestojnë kundër qeverisjes së Edi Ramës dhe ngrenë akuza për korrupsion e keqqeverisje, ju nuk mund të silleni sikur këto shqetësime nuk ekzistojnë.
Nuk mund dhe nuk duhet t’ia lini zgjidhjen e krizës politike Policisë së Shtetit.
Një krizë politike kërkon përgjegjësi politike, dialog, urti, maturi dhe përgjegjshmëri, që të çojnë në vendime konkrete nga ata që kanë mandatin për të qeverisur.
Partia Socialiste i ka të gjitha mundësitë dhe kapacitetet intelektuale, politike e njerëzore për ta gjetur zgjidhjen politike brenda vetes. Ajo ka njerëz të përgjegjshëm, përvojë politike dhe forume drejtuese që duhet të ushtrojnë rolin e tyre. Nuk ka asnjë arsye që zgjidhja e një krize të rëndë politike t’i lihet vetëm vullnetit të Edi Ramës, sikur askush tjetër në këtë parti të mos ketë as të drejtën dhe as aftësinë për të marrë përgjegjësi.
Momenti i vështirë në të cilin gjendet vendi ju kërkon të mos hiqni dorë nga përgjegjësitë tuaja të përfaqësimit politik në shërbim të interesave të vendit. Asnjë mandat, asnjë post dhe asnjë karrierë politike nuk mund të jenë më të rëndësishme se paqja sociale, funksionimi demokratik i institucioneve dhe e ardhmja e Shqipërisë.
Mos lejoni që heshtja juaj të interpretohet si miratim i gjithçkaje që bën Edi Rama. Mos lejoni që Partia Socialiste të bëhet mburojë politike për të. Mos lejoni që e ardhmja e Partisë Socialiste të lidhet pazgjidhshmërisht me fatin e një individi.
Prandaj, po ju bëj thirrje publikisht të merrni përgjegjësitë tuaja.
Kërkojuni forumeve drejtuese të mblidhen, të diskutojnë hapur situatën, të mbajnë një qëndrim të qartë dhe të marrin vendimet e duhura. Kërkojuni deputetëve socialistë të mos fshihen, por të ushtrojnë përgjegjësinë që u ka dhënë vota e qytetarëve. Kërkojuni forumeve drejtuese të partisë të tregojë se Shqipëria vjen përpara interesave politike të Edi Ramës.
Ju keni ende mundësinë të dëshmoni se Partia Socialiste është më e madhe se kryetari i saj dhe se interesat e Shqipërisë janë mbi interesat e çdo individi.
Krimi, korrupsioni, dhuna dhe armiqësia me qytetarët, nuk kanë asnjë lidhje me Partinë Socialiste.
Zgjedhja është në vullnetin tuaj: të mbroni pa kushte Edi Ramën, pavarësisht kostos për vendin, apo të vendosni Shqipërinë dhe qytetarët e saj mbi çdo interes tjetër.
Unë besoj se asnjë socialist që e do vërtet vendin nuk duhet ta ketë të vështirë të bëjë zgjedhjen e duhur.
Dear socialists, do not forget that governments change, presidents leave and mandates end. Albania remains.
Put Albania above Edi Rama. Put the interests of the citizens above the interests of the government. And show that you have the courage to be socialists without giving up your responsibility towards our common homeland.
With respect to every socialist who believes that Albania deserves more than political silence,
