Census towards closure in Pustec/ What % of the respondents declare themselves as Bulgarian citizens

The 2023 Census process is coming to an end in the municipality of Pustec, where a Macedonian national minority community lives.
Sources from INSTAT indicate that so far the surveyors have contacted nearly 1,500 residents, while the same sources said that the number of residents they are expected to contact will go up to 2,000.
In the population census process in 2011, 3100 residents were registered who declared themselves as residents in the 9 villages of this municipality.
What has aroused interest in the population and housing census process this year also has to do with the declarations of residents with Bulgarian citizenship.
Meanwhile, out of 1,500 residents registered so far, nearly 150 people have declared Bulgarian citizenship in the conditions where at least 500 residents have a Bulgarian passport and another 1,000 are thought to be in the process of obtaining this passport.
For this reason, during the development of the Census process in Pustec, there were visits from high-level officials of the Bulgarian government.
From the side of the civil status office in Pustec Municipality, it is known that more than 5100 residents are registered in the registers of this office, but most of them are in emigration, even in EU countries.
