Changes in the law of the baby bonus, children born abroad are deprived of the right

The Laws Committee has approved the amendments to the draft law on social assistance. With the changes approved by the commission, the children of Albanian immigrants living abroad will no longer receive the baby bonus that they have enjoyed until now.
The deputy of the Democratic Party, Asllan Dogjani, was against these changes, calling it a discrimination against Albanian citizens living abroad.
Deputy the Minister of Health stated during the commission's work that priority is given to children who are born and live in Albania, in order to increase the birth rate in the country.
Until now, the bonus has been availed for all children registered in Albania, even if the baby was born abroad.
The government supported families by giving a check worth 40,000 Lek for the first child, 80,000 Lek for the second child and 120,000 Lek for the third child.
