Albania, with the highest number of asylum seekers in the EU Region, for the first 6 months of 2023

Albania had the highest number of asylum seekers in the EU in the first 6 months of 2023, compared to the countries of the Western Balkans.

The data of the European Immigration Agency show that 4779 asylum seekers from Albania applied for asylum in EU countries (Great Britain is not included). While there were 3603 asylum seekers from North Macedonia, 2570 from Serbia, 851 from Bosnia and 179 from Montenegro.

The trend of asylum applications by Albanians continues to remain very high compared not only to the countries of the region, but also beyond.

Sirianët vazhduan të parashtronin shumicën e kërkesave për azil në BE Në gjysmën e parë të vitit 2023, ata depozituan 67,000 aplikime, ose (47 % me pak krahasuar me të njëjtën periudhë të vitit 2022.

Të dhënat tregojnë se kërkesat për azil nga Rusia ishin te larta me rreth 12 mijë persona, ndërsa nga Ukraina rreth 7 mijë persona.
