The World Cup starts at "Azteca", Mexico hits South Africa from the first minutes

The opening match of the World Cup for Group A has begun at the "Azteca" stadium, between host Mexico and South Africa.
Just a few minutes after the start of the match, Mexico took the lead, with Quinomes scoring the first goal of the tournament in the 9th minute, punishing South Africa.
The match began after the opening ceremony that lasted about 30 minutes, followed by the teams warming up on the field, before the first whistle blew in the legendary stadium.
Mexico comes into this World Cup in very good form, having been undefeated in recent matches and with impressive results in preparation, including a 5-1 victory over Serbia. They are also the defending champions of the CONCACAF League and the 2025 Gold Cup.
Coach Javier Aguirre has emphasized the emotional importance of this World Cup for the host country, describing the debut as a historic moment and asking the team to play without euphoria and as a "family."
South Africa, on the other hand, are looking to surprise, with midfielder Teboho Mokoena saying the pressure is on for Mexico as hosts. Coach Hugo Broos admitted the group is quite difficult for his team.
Group A also includes the Czech Republic and South Korea, who will face off later in Mexico local time.
