Napoli star Viktor Osimhen could yet find himself in the Premier League despite Chelsea reportedly ending their pursuit of the Nigerian as they close in on the transfer of Samu Omorodion.
Mail Sport has revealed that talks between Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are progressing over Omorodion, who will cost the Blues £30m despite scoring just nine goals in 35 La Liga appearances in a loan spell with Alaves.
The deal for Omorodion would be separate from Conor Gallagher's transfer to the other side, with the midfielder flying to the Spanish capital to undergo a medical with Atletico Madrid ahead of a £33.7million move.
Chelsea had been heavily linked with a move for Osimheni in recent transfer windows, with a swap deal involving Romelu Lukaku plus cash.
However, the Serie A side refused to compromise on the Nigerian's £111million release clause.
With Chelsea seemingly backing away from Osimhen, Sky Italy claim Arsenal could now press ahead with a bid to sign the Napoli star.
The Gunners, along with PSG and clubs in Saudi Arabia, all have an interest in Osimheni, who has scored 76 goals in 133 appearances for Napoli.
