AFF signs agreement with Basketball Federation for promotion, development & improvement of refereeing quality

The Football Federation and the Basketball Federation have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at promoting, developing and improving the quality of refereeing in both sports, namely football and basketball.
This agreement aims to exchange experiences, good practices and find resources to achieve more positive results, as well as to increase the level of professionalism of arbitrators.
This memorandum of cooperation was signed at the "House of Football" and was attended by the President of the Albanian Football Association, Armand Duka, and the President of the Albanian Football Association, Avni Ponari.
The President of the Albanian Football Federation, Armand Duka, described this cooperation agreement as very important and thanked President Ponari for his willingness. President Duka expressed confidence that this agreement will serve both federations to exchange best experiences and to do even more for the two most important sports in Albania.
"We are at the offices of the Albanian Football Federation to sign a very important agreement for refereeing, together with the President of the Albanian Basketball Federation, Mr. Avni Ponari, whom I thank and welcome. I also thank him for his willingness for this agreement. Our two sports, football and basketball, for me the most important in our country, are similar sports because they are team sports and have elements that can unite them. Through this memorandum we will hold joint seminars and preparations for referees over the next two years.
I am sure that this agreement will serve both federations and both sports for the exchange of the best experiences that the Basketball Federation and the Football Federation have. Together we will do even more. A very important point of the agreement is the activation of female and female referees, both in football and basketball, the way we should approach them, the conditions we should create and their assistance for the development of refereeing and the entire sport of basketball and football.
"Thanking President Ponari once again, I wish that we have the best possible cooperation and that we do not stop only in the field of refereeing, but also in every other aspect where we have common interests for the development of football and basketball in Albania and the international arena," said President Duka.
The President of the Albanian Football Association, Avni Ponari, described this agreement as historic and very important, as it will increase the quality of refereeing. He also thanked President Duka for everything he has done for sports in Albania.
"Thank you, President Duka! For me it is a special day, perhaps even historic, because for the first time two federations sign a joint agreement. An agreement that will serve continuous cooperation and the construction of a program and strategy for education and increasing the level of quality. The girls and boys who practice this profession will have the opportunity to reflect and show the high level of refereeing, because they are actually the people who represent the federations and are dignified, both on the green fields and in the sports palaces.
We will work to dispel the misconception that referees are to blame for losses. We will fight to dispel this spirit and for refereeing to assume the weight and role it has to adequately reflect the activities and development of sports activities.
Once again, Mr. Duka, I congratulate you for this initiative and for everything you have done for basketball, not to mention the great successes that football has achieved under your leadership, both in Albania and beyond”, said the President of the Albanian Football Association, Avni Ponari.
