Harsh gestures against Atletico fans, UEFA confirms sanctions for three Real

UEFA has taken a tough stance, rejecting Real Madrid's appeal and upholding sanctions against Antonio Rudiger, Kylian Mbappe and Dani Ceballos for offensive gestures during the victory celebration against Atletico Madrid at the Metropolitano on March 12.

The European Disciplinary Committee has decided that the behavior of the three players deserves a sanction, despite the provocations coming from the stands, from which, as Real claims, objects were thrown. There is nothing to be done: for UEFA, these are excessive, unjustifiable reactions.

In detail, Rydiger was fined 40,000 euros for a gesture considered among the most serious: he pretended to cut his throat towards the curve of Atletico fans; Mbappe, fined 30,000 euros, touched his private parts during the celebrations; Sebajo, finally, will have to pay 20,000 euros for an "umbrella gesture" at the entrance to the dressing room.

All three were given a conditional ban: they will only miss a match in UEFA competitions in the event of a repeated offence within a year. No sanction for Vinicius, his case was shelved for lack of seriousness.
