On Tuesday, Barcelona's 17-year-old star Lamin Jamal spoke openly about his team's season. He announced that his number one goal is to win the most important continental trophy at club level.
"We are the favorites for the Champions League. When the group stage ended, I said that Liverpool were the main favorites because they were the first. But now that they were eliminated, it's us, Barcelona," the Blaugrana striker explained frankly in an interview with the newspaper "Sport".
The Barcelona player has stated that to reach the end, the road will be even more complicated and with more obstacles. But adding that Barcelona is not afraid of any rival. Not even Real Madrid.
"The matches against Real Madrid are very attractive and we are the team that hurts them the most. And vice versa," he argued.
In the 2023-2024 season, Barcelona stopped its run in the Champions League in the quarterfinals, where it now faces Dortmund, a rival it defeated in the points-gathering stage. However, Jamal did not draw parallels between the current Barcelona and last season.
"We are a different block from last year, when we were defeated by PSG. Many things have changed, so everyone has to take us seriously. We are like a big family and this makes us even stronger," declared the Barcelona and Spanish national team striker.
