The Ajax player is seriously injured, he remains out for a year

Bad news for Ajax and footballer Gaston Avila. The Argentine defender suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and will be out for at least nine months.

In a statement, the Dutch club announced that the break could last up to a year.

"Gastón Ávila suffered a knee injury during training last week. Tests showed he suffered a serious injury which will keep him out of action for nine to 12 months. We are with you Gastón", says the club's message from Amsterdam.

"I am now in Spain for the operation. Here I can be near my family and there are also specialists who help me even more in the rehabilitation process", said the Argentinian sportsman, former of Boca Juniors and Antwerp, who transferred to Ajax last summer.
