"In Greece we were at minus zero, I grew up without food"/ Uzun's story: I came to the US so that people would know Albania for its good things

Myrto Uzuni moved from Spanish football to American football at the beginning of this year, signing with Osti in the MLS. The club paid his $12.3 million release clause, making him the club's record signing. A move to an unfamiliar league for Uzuni, while he was an undisputed idol in the ranks of Granada in Spain.
"At Granada I won everything. Best player, number 10, captain, top scorer, I won everything. My name is there. I broke records with a 100-year-old club, I broke records. I came here to put my name in Austin, you know what I mean?
The decision? I talked to my family. I was with my family after we celebrated New Year's. My dad told me, "Go, go. You have to make your name. You've made your name here, you've won everything. You have to go there, make your name. The most important thing is what you leave behind when you're done with football," Uzuni explained in an interview for the official MLS website.
Then, he stopped on his difficult journey in life, with football being the only solution for him and his family.
"I never had a good childhood. The only solution was football. My story is not that simple. Because we had nothing. We were at zero. And when we went to Greece we were at minus zero, because you have to pay the rent and that's all. So the only solution at home was me.
Everything for the family? Definitely, because my family was with me when I had nothing. So they are the only people who have seen me grow up without food and I put my name in every country I have been. In Croatia, in Hungary, in Spain. That is why I want to put my name here, because the most important thing is when you finish with football, what you leave behind. The most important thing is the name you put everywhere. I don't want my sister's children to grow up like me without food, nothing. So everything is fantastic now", said Uzuni.
But he also carries a very important mission, beyond the personal aspect. "The reason why I want to put my name here in MLS is so that everyone knows Albania for good things. So I also have a responsibility to my country to be here.
Pressure for the record value? Of course, there is always pressure. Of course, now I have higher pressure. But I know, this is my job. I have been doing this for many years, scoring goals. It takes a little time to adapt to a championship, to a vision, but I have no doubts in myself. I am confident, I believe in myself. So the goals will come, "were Uzun's words.
