The government approved this Wednesday the decision that paves the way for the construction of the Football Academy in Durrës. The government decided that the state properties in Spitalle, where the Academy will be built, will be made available to "Durrah City Football Academy".
"The transfer of administration responsibility, from the Ministry of Finance and Economy to the Ministry of Education and Sports, of state properties with asset number 79/1, with an area of 99,770 m2, and 80/1, with an area of 104,580 m2, part of the cadastral area no. 8517, Durrës Municipality, Durrës Administrative Unit, in the area of Spitalla, according to the property cards and fragments of the cadastral map, in annex 1, which are attached to this decision and are an integral part of it, for making the "Durrah" foundation available City Football Academy", in order to build and develop the Durrës Football Academy complex.
The assets defined in point 1 of this decision shall be used for the construction and development of the Durrës Football Academy complex, sports facilities and any necessary services, in order to promote and develop the sport of football in the Republic of Albania, as and carrying out the functions of the "Durrah City Football Academy" foundation.
In the list of assets that are included in the area of the technology and economic development zone, attached to decision no. 262, dated 6.4.2016, of the Council of Ministers, "On the announcement of the technology and economic development zone in Spitalle, Durrës", as amended, the state properties defined in annex 1, which is attached to this decision, are removed".
In April, a cooperation agreement was reached to bring the Manchester City team academy to Durrës.
The agreement came as a joint effort between the Municipality of Durra, the Ministry of Education and Mohammed Alabar. The achievement of this agreement, the first of its kind in Albania, with direct benefits for the youth of Durra.
