Brutal fall, Chinese Jiayu Liu transported by emergency sled

For several minutes, the stands of the Livigno Snow Park fell into complete silence. Thousands of spectators waited anxiously as medical services administered first aid to Chinese athlete Jiayu Liu, who suffered a serious fall in the final segment of her second qualifying downhill.
In one of her last landings, the Olympic runner-up of “Pyeongchang 2018” got stuck with the sled in the snow, which caused her to lose her balance immediately. At great speed, she leaned back and remained motionless on the track. The athlete was immediately given medical assistance, intervened immediately and was transported by emergency sled.
Although she will undergo further examinations, medical staff have announced that it is unlikely that the athlete has suffered a cervical spine injury, while it is suspected that the concussion was caused by a blow to the head. The race was interrupted for about 10 minutes, while the Chinese had reached 13th place and needed one more position to qualify for the final.
In the end, she ranked 14th, with no points in the second descent after the fall, while in the first she had received 62.75 points, however, after the terrible fall the result took a back seat, while all attention is on the health condition of the Chinese skier.
