Skier Lara Colturi seeks to leave Albania due to lack of funds

Italian-Albanian skier Lara Colturi has officially requested to leave Albania and represent her country of birth, Italy.
The International Olympic Committee has not given its approval, and the 18-year-old's request has until May 1 to be reviewed.
The fate of the skier, who managed to secure the podium three times in the World Cup and raise the red and black flag, is expected to be decided next month, ranking in 7th position in the final standings.
As reported in the media, the request was made before the end of the World Cup and Colturi seeks to represent Italy at the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in 2026.
It is said that the reason for her request to leave Albania was a lack of funds. As in many other disciplines, skiing has been left to the mercy of fate by the Albanian state, which, despite political promises, is harsh on athletes.
This reality has apparently also affected Colturin, who is seeking to leave after 4 years of 'coexistence' with Albania, which will end in four years. Despite Albania's desire to have one of the world's greatest skiing talents in the team, our country's limited opportunities and budgets will leave us without a future champion.
