Xabi could leave Leverkusen, possible successor
Bayer Leverkusen are preparing for the possibility of a future without Xabi Alonso, with Real Madrid seemingly closing in on the signing. According to Kicker, the German club have included Erik ten Hag on their list of possible replacements should the Spaniard leave at the end of the season.
Although no official contact has yet been made, Leverkusen's management are reported to have already gathered detailed information about the former Manchester United manager, currently without a team after a difficult season in the Premier League. Ten Hag is considered a high-level profile, with international experience and a game idea that fits the club's project.
Xabi Alonso, who enjoyed a historic season in charge of Leverkusen last year, has also been targeted by other European clubs, including Liverpool and Bayern Munich. Real Sociedad coach Imanol Alguacil has also been linked with the Aspirins in recent days.
