Google partners with World Bank on digital infrastructure for emerging markets

Google announced on Tuesday its collaboration with the World Bank Group to build public digital infrastructure powered by artificial intelligence for emerging market economies.

"The collaboration focuses on deploying Open Network Stacks, which act as digital infrastructure to help citizens access vital services," Google said in a statement.

The statement noted that by combining Google Cloud's artificial intelligence technology, including its Gemini models, with the World Bank Group's development expertise, the initiative helps governments quickly create interactive networks for critical sectors such as agriculture, healthcare and training.

"Citizens can interact with these artificial intelligence-powered services in over 40 languages, even on simple devices," the statement said.

According to the statement, the partnership expands on a fruitful pro bono trial that helped thousands of small farmers in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh become more profitable.

"To foster a sustainable and open ecosystem, Google.org is providing funding to the new nonprofit organization Networks for Humanity (NFH), to build universal digital infrastructure (the Beckn open network and Finternet asset tokenization), create regional innovation labs, and pilot social impact applications globally," she added.
