Google denies hacking 180 million Gmail users' passwords

Google denied reports of a Gmail breach, which allegedly affected the addresses of at least 180 million users.
According to the tech giant, these reports stem from a "misunderstanding regarding credential theft databases" and are not a new attack targeting specific users or accounts.
The company reminds users of the security measures that are already available, such as two-step verification and access keys, to protect their accounts.
What does Google's response say?
“Reports of a ‘Gmail security breach affecting millions of users’ are false. Gmail’s security measures are strong and users remain protected.”
The inaccurate reports stem from a misinterpretation of credential theft databases, which systematically record various incidents of credential theft occurring online. They do not reflect a new attack targeting a specific individual, device, or platform.
Users can protect themselves from credential theft by enabling two-step verification and adopting access keys as a stronger, more secure alternative to passwords, as well as by resetting passwords when they are widely disclosed."
