Microsoft introduces artificial intelligence improvements in Windows 11

Microsoft has introduced a number of AI-based improvements for Windows 11, including voice activation on Windows 11 PCs and new experimental artificial intelligence features.

Copilot assistant updates aim to simplify user interaction and automate everyday tasks.

Users can now activate Copilot with the voice command “Hey Copilot” on any Windows 11 PC through a new recording feature.

Another new feature, Copilot Vision, can analyze what's on the screen and answer questions, and will launch in all markets where Copilot is available.

Microsoft also announced that, "together with Copilot Labs, we're bringing even more experimental AI and agent features to Windows Insiders."

Among the improvements is an experimental extension of Copilot Actions beyond the browser, enabling limited actions on local Windows files for Windows Insiders. Copilot Actions for the web was previously announced in May and allows the AI assistant to perform real-world tasks like making restaurant reservations or ordering food.

Yusuf Mehdi, marketing director for consumer products, described the move as a significant change.

"We believe we are on the cusp of a new evolution, where artificial intelligence is not limited to chatbots, but is seamlessly integrated into the millions of experiences that people engage with every day," he added.
