Massive thefts of homes and businesses in Orikum and Dukat, residents demand police intervention

Residents of Orikum and Dukat report that for days now, homes and businesses have been the target of robberies, while the perpetrators, according to them, act masked and mainly at night.

One of the most serious cases was recorded on September 16 in Dukat, where unidentified persons entered a residence while residents were inside, taking valuables and then the vehicle.

On October 1, another case was reported in Orikum, where perpetrators broke into and robbed a cigarette shop. Meanwhile, residents are also reporting other cases of smaller thefts in Dukat.

Reports of house burglaries have also been received from the village of Kaninë, but there is still no complete data on how many houses were affected or what was taken in these cases.

Residents say that for almost 10 days a group of people has been moving around the area and committing thefts of homes and businesses.
"We are terrorized. We have reported the cases to the police, but the thefts continue," residents say.
According to them, the perpetrators also take advantage of power outages, operating in the dark and entering homes or businesses unnoticed.

Residents say that nothing is spared from the thefts, including household appliances, food, tools, money, livestock, and even vehicles.
According to residents, security camera footage has captured masked individuals, while the footage has been made available to the police.

The residents' biggest fear is not just related to material damage. They say they are afraid of a direct confrontation with the perpetrators, especially since in some cases there were people in the apartments.

At this stage, it remains to be verified by the police whether the reported cases are related to each other and whether they involve the same group of perpetrators.
