Anti-mafia operation in Italy, 49 arrest warrants/ 1 Albanian among those
The Flying Squad of the Crotone Police Headquarters has dismantled, with 49 precautionary measures, a suspected drug trafficking organization.

40 people ended up in prison, 4 under house arrest and 5 with the obligation to appear before the judicial police.

The operation was codenamed "Grecale", while the investigating judge of the Catanzaro district, Roberta Cafiero, signed the detention orders based on the request of the prosecutors Domenico Guarascio and Paolo Sirleo, who coordinated the investigations.

The organization, according to the indictment, supplied narcotics in Locride, Piana di Gioia Tauro and Puglia. They are also accused of gun crimes. The measures were carried out by various Flying Squads and by the Central Operative Service of the State Police in cooperation with the Mobile Units.

The people involved are all from the Kroton area, except for one of Albanian nationality. He has been identified as Bardhyl Shaba, 33 years old.

The investigations were advanced following the testimony of the associate justice Francesco Oliverio, convicted of the murder of Francesco Tersigni, a crime committed in September 2019 in the historic center and which occurred in a drug context.

Oliverio referred to the "gangs" active in drug trafficking in the Fondo Gesù neighborhood and identified the "responsibles" in Valente, with a number of retailers under him.

The penitent spoke about Albanian warehouses and supply channels, in Apulia, through Bardyl Shaba and nearby Isola Capo Rizzuto, where the contact would have been Giuseppe Vittimberga. But he also spoke about the figures of Mario Cimino, Andrea Misticoni and the Laforgia brothers. The evidence came from numerous wiretapped conversations.

Michele Porto is the suspect who, according to the prosecution, was associated with the Albanian Shaba for a period shown as a supplier of kilos of heroin to the residents of Crotone.
