New era for the transfer market, FIFA "enriches" footballers and gives them more opportunities to leave clubs

FIFA has approved significant changes to transfer regulations, which will come into effect from January 1, 2027.
After two years of negotiations with the players' union FIFPro, European leagues and clubs, football's governing body has set new rules that directly affect players and clubs.
One of the main innovations is that footballers will benefit from 5% of their transfer value, a practice that until now was only applied in a few countries, such as Spain.
Also, release clauses will become mandatory in contracts between players and clubs around the world, facilitating the movement of footballers.
The changes also provide for contracts of up to five years for players under 18, under certain conditions, as well as the creation of a Global Dialogue Platform between FIFA, FIFPro, leagues and clubs to discuss issues related to transfers, player welfare and their rights.
The agreement also brings the withdrawal of the lawsuits filed by FIFPro against FIFA, paving the way for a new era in the regulation of the transfer market in world football.
