Gramza residents protest for the fourth time on the Thumanë-Kashar axis: We demand the asphalting of 500 meters of road! The contractor should be held responsible

Residents of villages in the Thumanë unit protested today for the fourth time in a row near the Thumanë-Kashar highway underpass.

The destruction of the Gramza road, severely damaged by vehicles deviating from the highway, and the lack of response from the Albanian Road Authority (ARA) and the Municipality of Krujë for the investment in this road, only about 500 meters long, forced residents to take to the streets.

For about an hour, protesters blocked traffic, demanding urgent intervention for the reconstruction of damaged roads in Kruja, one of the least invested areas and left out of the government's attention.

"We went out to protest for a 500-meter road, our cars were broken, everything was broken. We will come out again until they pave this stretch of road. It's 500 meters of road, trucks pass by and they've ruined it. The sooner they pave it for us, we'll come out until they pave it," said one of the protesters.

Residents appealed for quick solutions and warned that if the situation does not change, they will continue with other protests, paralyzing traffic on this main axis.

"We have been protesting for some time and have not received any kind of reaction from either the municipality or other institutions. If we continue the protest, we will also follow the situation through legal channels, because we see that no decision is being made by any institution. We will petition the municipality and other relevant institutions. We hope that the government will react and listen to the voice of the people, who have been stabbed where they do not belong," said a citizen.

"As long as no one listens to us, we will continue our work, but I think that's enough. Waiting has a limit, how long will we wait. The authorities, the state, should hold the contracting company responsible for road maintenance accountable," added another resident of Thumana.
