US sends commandos, Tehran offers reward/ Americans and Iranians race to find missing F-15 pilot

Iranian and American forces are continuing efforts to find the missing pilot after a US F-15 jet was shot down over Iranian territory, an event that marks the first direct air clash since the start of the conflict yesterday.
Iranian authorities have appealed to residents of the country's southwest to help find the pilot, offering a reward of more than $60,000 for any information that could lead to his capture.
According to Laurel Rapp, director of the United States and North America program at Chatham House, rescuing the American pilot is “a crucial mission.” She added that his capture by Iran would represent a “huge prize” and give Tehran a “very powerful card” in future negotiations, the BBC reports.
Meanwhile, a senior Iranian commander said the country's forces are now able to "shoot down" US aircraft thanks to new tactics and equipment. Brigadier General Alireza Elhami, commander of Iran's Joint Air Defense Base, said the loss of the plane was a result of tactics, the use of modern equipment and innovations in Iranian air defense systems.
Elhami did not elaborate on what these innovations were, adding only that they caused “confusion and disorientation among the enemy,” according to the state news agency IRNA and reported by CNN. The event increases tensions in the region and constitutes a significant test of Iran’s air defense capabilities as the U.S. tries to secure the return of its missing pilot.
